Last year, Epic Games confirmed that players would be given the ability to merge their Fortnite accounts, allowing them to consolidate items and V-Bucks obtained across multiple accounts onto one. While this feature was delayed in November, it is now available, and Epic has provided details on exactly how it works.
In order to perform a merger, players will need to select two accounts: a primary account and a secondary account. After submitting these two accounts to be merged, the secondary account will be instantly disabled, and its items will be sent to the primary account.
That said, it is important to note that merged cosmetics and V-Bucks will not be immediately available on the primary account. Epic has indicated that players will need to wait two weeks before they have access to these items.
Furthermore, accounts must meet a number of criteria to qualify for a merger. To begin, one of the accounts needs to have played on Xbox One or Switch prior to September 28, 2018, while the other must have played on PlayStation 4 prior to that date. Accounts can also not be banned or disabled, and players will need to have access to all email addresses associated with the accounts.
Epic goes on to elaborate exactly what is allowed to be merged with an account. For Battle Royale, this includes all cosmetic items, and Save the World will merge Defenders, Evolution, Heroes, Llamas, Perk Materials, Schematics, Survivors, and XP. The company additionally notes that "Unreal Marketplace items, Creative Islands, and Save the World account level and progress will not be merged over from your secondary account."
To perform a merge, players simply need to visit Fortnite's account merge website. Here they will select their primary and secondary accounts, as outlined by the details above, and all that is left is to wait for the items to become available in two weeks.
With Fortnite available across so many platforms, players with fragmented accounts are certain to welcome the arrival of account merging. So long as these players select their primary and second accounts correctly, and have a bit of patience, the process should be relatively straightforward to complete.
Fortnite is out now in early access for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
